The "Blue Park" will soon be the "Red Park"
|
Many have noticed the change taking place at Legacy Park (the "Blue Park").
The playground equipment there was in need of replacement. Alpine City was able to purchase a playground set from the public surplus website and sell the old system on the same site. The City is now in the process of engineering the layout of the park with the new play equipment.
We apologize that this change has made it inconvienent for some; but when done, it will be safer and better for all.

Mayor's Message
Have you ever stopped to look around you and see what a beautiful place we live in? You can certainly see why Brigham Young called this place Alpine. When the snow is on the peaks and the trees are bright green it does remind me of the Alps.
We do need to have a little heart-to-heart talk this month. I get calls regularly from you about the speeding in your neighbor-hood. This is especially true about some of our main corridors such as Main Street, Ridge Drive and Grove Street. The call-ers ask for better surveillance by the police on these streets. Here's the problem: it's you and me that are doing the speed-ing. It is our neighbors barreling past our house at break-neck speed. We only have limited resources to patrol the streets. It is up to you and me to slow down and obey the limit. We need to teach our kids that safety is of the utmost importance. I will do all I can to curb my own tendency to speed if you will do the same. Actually, I will do it whether you do or don't! All I can do is plead for you to help us and know that if you do get pulled over for going over the limit, it is because someone you know has begged for a greater police presence.
It's probably time for you to begin preparing for the Alpine Days climb to Lake Hardy. I will be going up there again this year and I would love for you to join me.
Materials in Public Right of Ways
As spring approaches, many of us will be excited to get out to do some yard work and enjoy the warmth that it brings. As we do this, please keep in mind that it is unlawful to place any kind of material on a public road or sidewalk. Not only is this hazardous for vehicles and pedestrians, it is also a source of contaminants to the storm water system. Debris from these piles fills our storm drain system with sediment and is difficult to remove. Dumping piles of landscaping or other materials on our roads and sidewalks is illegal and punishable by Class B misdemeanor. Please take care this year to inform any contractors/landscapers you may hire to please place all materials out of any public right-of-way for our safety and to help protect our storm drain systems.
